研究目的

本研究では、気候安定化、防災減災、食糧や水の確保、文化の豊かさなど無数にある自然の価値を活用する「自然に根差した解決策（Nature-based solutions; NbS）」の社会実装に必要な科学的エビデンスを提供する。これまで本学が環境学、生態学分野で培ってきた学際的なリスクマネジメント研究を継承し、新たな自然と社会の関わり方を提示する。NbSに社会実装には、科学と社会、政策の協力体制が必要である。科学的知見を社会に昇華させるための研究と実践活動の拠点を築く。

VISION

This research program is aimed at providing the evidence to assist the nature-based solutions (NbS). Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are defined by IUCN as “actions to protect, sustainably manage, and restore natural or modified ecosystems, that address societal challenges effectively and adaptively, simultaneously providing human well-being and biodiversity benefits”. The NbS requires collective efforts across science, society, and policy. This research program aims to build a science-policy platform to mainstream the NbS to help risk management in social-ecological systems.
